Frequently Asked Questions:

1. I open my app but it seems like it is hanging and not showing me any results.
Make sure you have location services enabled on your phone. If you’re living outside of a major city, chances are you’ll have difficulty with other apps that require location services if it isn’t already turned on.

iOS:
Leave the FoodSpect app and go to your iPhone’s Settings.
Tap Privacy > Location Services.
Scroll down and tap FoodSpect.
Decide to allow location access Never or While Using the App.
Restart your iPhone for good measure.

Android:
Open your device’s Settings app
Tap Location.
You can turn Google’s location services off in two ways: Tap Mode Device only. This mode uses only GPS to determine your location. This mode may be named differently on non-Nexus devices. At the top of the “Location” screen, tap the On/Off switch.
Restart your Android phone for good measure.

2. How come I can’t find a restaurant using ‘search’ or ‘near me?’

FoodSpect uses available inspection data and democratizes it for the consumer. We are not a restaurant listing service, and we’re not the Yellow Pages. You will only find a restaurant through FoodSpect if they’ve had an inspection performed. Some inspections may not have been updated since 2015, and that’s simply because there hasn’t been an update since that date.

3. Do you service my area?

At the moment, we service the entire Province of British Columbia. While we are expanding into other Provinces, it does take time. If you’d like FoodSpect in your Province, give us a shout!
